Asst. Professor - Architecture jobs in New Mexico

The Department of Architecture at the University of New Mexico is currently accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to teach Sustainable Design at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position is a 9-month faculty appointment (mid-August to mid-May each academic year) beginning in August of 2024 located in Albuquerque, NM.

The Position:
The Department of Architecture welcomes candidates with expertise in sustainable design and new perspectives and lenses that bring social and environmental issues in sustainability to the forefront. The successful candidate will have the experience and knowledge to promote and expand the discourse on sustainability and design in architecture and the built environment. They will teach a required sustainability lecture course and related design studios and seminars to pre-professional undergraduate and professional and post-professional graduate architecture students. The candidate will also serve on department and school committees and participate in other activities, such as curriculum development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of excellence in architectural research or a research-based architectural practice. Areas of expertise within sustainability may include knowledge of sustainable materials and methods of construction, resilience against impacts of climate change, indigenous knowledge systems, innovative methods of energy use, historic preservation, and other methodologies considering the sustained use, existence, and inhabitation of the built environment.
