Assoc. Professor - History jobs in West Virginia

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, Teaching Assistant Professor of History. We are seeking an outstanding candidate to complement the faculty in our multidisciplinary School.

Responsibilities include teaching twelve undergraduate hours per semester, including lower-level surveys of American history and upper-division courses related to the candidate's fields. The successful candidate will actively contribute to scholarly pursuits, departmental initiatives, and the intellectual and cultural life of the university and will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring. Additional responsibilities include advising students pursuing a history major, committee assignments, participation in professional development, attending regularly scheduled faculty and department meetings, and other duties associated with a tenure-track faculty position.

A Ph.D. in US history conferred by August 2024, is required. Historians in all subfields of US history are welcome to apply. Candidates must also exhibit evidence of effective teaching experience at the college level along with evidence of scholarly promise. Experience with online instructional technologies and teaching classes online is desirable.
