Area Business Manager

Our Award Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, is seeking an Area Business Manager for a full-time field sales position. The ideal candidate will reside within the territory, encompassing central cities such as Winchester, VA, Leesburg, VA, Canon Bridge, WV.

Job Description:

The Area Business Manager (ABM) will be responsible for engaging in account-based business-to-business interactions within customer segments, including Pediatrics, Family/General Practice, IDN/IHNs, Health Systems, and Federally Qualified Health Centers. By delivering clinically focused selling messages, the ABM will drive revenue growth and consistently achieve our client's portfolio objectives.

Acting as an "account orchestrator," the ABM will enhance customer experience and drive improved outcomes by leveraging cross-functional support from internal teams across our client's national operations. The ABM will demonstrate initiative, drive, and independence, taking ownership of meeting and exceeding individual business goals. Essentially, the ABM operates as the business owner for their assigned book of business, ensuring performance and results are achieved in a compliant manner with utmost integrity.

The ABM will:

• Grow portfolio share and revenue while consistently achieving product goals.
• Serve as a therapeutic area expert, effectively positioning and differentiating products.
• Collaborate with key field-based stakeholders to proactively address customer needs.
• Identify market dynamics and trends, developing strategies supporting brand and corporate objectives.
• Utilize account and territory data to leverage insights aiding healthcare professionals.
• Strategize optimal ABM approaches for healthcare professionals, leveraging digital tools.
• Identify key opportunities, develop strategic business plans, and drive product utilization and territory business growth.
• Understand and differentiate portfolio contracting options, comparing competitive offerings.
• Perform according to a buy/bill model, requiring specialized operational support.
• Adapt to changing environments and sales methodologies, including remote selling techniques.
• Plan, organize, and execute local promotional speaker programs and activities.
• Maximize budget allocation to support execution of strategies and tactics.
• Participate in initiatives supporting sales success as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum required skills & experience:

• Bachelor's degree
• 3 years of pharmaceutical, life sciences, and/or business-to-business sales experience
• Broad understanding of the healthcare environment, decision-making processes, and market trends
• Strong commercial business acumen, strategic, critical thinking/problem-solving, and innovative thinking capabilities
• Ability to navigate a hybrid environment and determine the optimal HCP selling model
• Agility in adjusting priorities due to changing circumstances
• Experience with omnichannel approaches, executing customer engagement through appropriate channels using insights
• Ability to utilize data and data analytics to unearth valuable insights aiding in new solutions for the customer
• Passion and learning aptitude for science, proactive in strengthening knowledge related to disease-state, treatment options, and healthcare trends
• Ability to execute tactical initiatives, provide ongoing feedback, and prioritize multiple products
• Broad field sales experience with demonstrated success in influencing decision-makers
• Self-directed and organized with excellent execution and planning skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Must possess a valid driver's license, be eligible for insurance coverage, and able to safely operate a vehicle

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Graduate degree
• Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device sales experience with business-to-business experience
• Preferred 2 years of account management experience
• Enhanced digital acumen
• Strong clinical acumen
• Experience working in Market Access, Pricing, Contracting, or Finance
• Proficient with MS Office and customer management databases
• Company car provided

Candidate Details: The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience and possess one or more of the following experiences throughout their career: vaccine sales, B2B sales, buy and bill, injectable/infusion sales, experience selling in hospitals, education centers, large healthcare systems, rare disease experience, specialty pharmacy, high performer/sales awards throughout career (not just 1 or 2 years of longer career).
