    The Department of Biology at Providence College in Providence, RI, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2024. We seek outstanding candidates who hold a Ph.D. (post-doctoral experience preferred) in Aquatic or Marine Biology, or a closely related field discipline, such as Ecology, Freshwater Biology, Environmental Modeling and Statistics, Conservation Biology, or Geoscience. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program with outstanding scholarship and to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students. The successful candidate should be able to teach Aquatic/Marine Biology, General Biology II (Ecology and Evolution), Marine Ecology, Ecological Modeling with R, and courses in their specialty area, as well as propose a research program that complements the scientific interests/model systems of the current faculty. We are open to considering any area of relevant expertise in environmental biology. Examples of areas of interest could be community response to climate change; conservation; surface and groundwater hydrology; effects of contaminants, such as marine and coastal plastics; biological carbon sequestration; and organismal responses to ocean warming and acidification. The department has outstanding teaching and research facilities, including a vivarium, a microscopy suite, a cell culture room, common-use molecular equipment, and dedicated wet labs for student/faculty research.

    The salary for this position is between $80,000-$83,000.
