Position Overview: Malley's Chocolates is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, implementing, and maintaining internal controls, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within a company known for its commitment to quality and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with the Controller to create and provide reports that will streamline the monthly close, provide insightful information and expose positive and negative trends, thus providing upper management with relevant decision-making data.
- Review and update standard operating procedures with appropriate employees to insure they are complete and accurate.
- Participate in preparation for annual certified audit.
- Assist in the planning of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze and participate in monthly reviews of actual vs. budget variances with department managers.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and ROI calculations.
- Creation of KPI’s using appropriate computer programs (BI with Sage 500)
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment including inventory and variance analysis.
- Participate in time studies for the review of routings to insure more accurate costing of our products.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and presentations for senior management as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-location retail setting.
- Experience in a pre or post-sale company environment a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
