Assistant Campus Recreation Director administers and promotes all non-varsity, club (intramural) sports and wellness program. Plans and organizes campus-wide recreational programs for all students, faculty, and staff. Being an Assistant Campus Recreation Director may supervise student staff. Position Summary
This position performs duties in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising all City Parks, Unity Health and Fitness Center, and Milbank Cemetery. Develops or approves the maintenance and expansion of the facilities, programs, and related events for the City of Milbank.
This position is responsible for management and administration of all personnel assigned to the Parks, Recreation, Facilities, and Cemetery divisions. This position is responsible for the overseeing of scheduling and supervision of all youth and adult recreation and fitness programs for the City of Milbank. This includes managing, creating, researching, budgeting, and implementing programs. This position meets with the City Park & Recreation Board once a month with a status report on all Parks and Recreation functions/activities.

This position manages all adult and youth personnel associated with Parks, Recreation, and the Cemetery. Manages all recreation events and is responsible for volunteer recruitment and oversight.
Work Environment
This position will primarily work indoors at our community recreational facility - Unity Health & Fitness but may also be required to work outside at our city parks – Farley, Flynn, Hurley, Jack & Jill and Pribyl; dog park; and tennis courts along with expanded camping facilities. The Parks & Recreation Director is expected to be engaged with the community and be present or have representation at major community events when necessary.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen and engage in active communication. Sitting, standing, bending, and walking will be necessary from time to time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Base hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening, weekend and holiday work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with event and/or recreation planning, with special emphasis on youth activities and volunteer recruitment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Must possess a valid driver’s license. Formal education is not required but encouraged.
Preferred Education and Experience
CPR/AED certification is preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Ability to obtain a South Dakota driver’s license and be insured by the City’s carrier.
