Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Our service lines include Robotics, General, Colorectal, Urology, Cancer, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics, and Oral Maxillofacial. Job Summary:
The anesthesia technician assists the anesthesia resident, Certified Nurse Anesthetist and anesthesia physician to maintain proper anesthesia supplies and equipment and the functioning of that equipment. This position also requires knowledge of the functioning of all equipment used in the anesthesia department and also the trouble shooting of this equipment. Examples of this equipment are anesthesia machines, video towers for difficult intubation, monitoring equipment etc. Daily duties will include assisting with the turnover of rooms. The anesthesia technician must work with residents, physicians, nurses and materials management to provide proper and cost-effective supplies and equipment.
