Adult Day Care Director creates and directs programs that address the health, psychosocial, and educational needs of older individuals and their caregivers and that provide clients a safe, secure, and positive daily experience. Responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of qualified staff. Being an Adult Day Care Director manages the financial operations for the center including billing, reimbursements, and budgets. Performs assessments of prospective clients to determine if programs will meet their needs. Additionally, Adult Day Care Director coordinates with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to plan clients program of care. Monitors programs to ensure effectiveness, quality care, compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and to identify areas for improvement or expanded program offerings. May be a RN with experience in gerontology. Requires a bachelor's degree of social science or a directly related field. Typically reports to top management. The Adult Day Care Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Adult Day Care Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. We are in search of a caring and compassionate Dementia Family Care Specialist to join our team. We are looking for someone who will bring their experience to support the independence and well-being of older adults at our House of Welcome Adult Day Services Program.

    NSSC is a small non-profit social services agency with just over 100 employees. For the fourth year in a row, Chicago Tribune has recognized NSSC as a Top Workplace in the Chicagoland area.     SUMMARY: Assesses and enrolls participants in an adult day program for people living with dementia. Works with participant family caregivers to reduce stress and provide dementia education. Facilitates support groups, Memory Café, and provides community and professional education.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assesses and enrolls participants in dementia day program and coordinates with family caregivers to provide care management.
    • Supports family caregivers of Day Program participants, including completing assessments and developing and maintaining care plans using the required assessment tool, providing supportive counseling, and providing education about dementia, information and referrals about community resources and supportive services.
    • Facilitates caregiver support groups and Memory Café.
    • Provides community and professional education programs and community outreach.
    • Communicates regularly with family members, paid caregivers, department staff, and other NSSC staff.
    • Follow AgeOptions requirements for caregiver program, including submitting reports, and attending quarterly meetings.
    • Facilitates and cultivates relationships with respite providers for inclusion in AgeOptions respite registry.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in person-centered dementia care.
    • Demonstrates effective clinical assessment and care management skills.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's Degree (MSW, MA) in social work or counseling
    • Certificates, licenses and registrations preferred: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (CPR and First Aid certifications may be obtained upon hire)
    • At least 1 year experience with older adults with dementia/memory loss
    • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn internal proprietary database

    Other skills required:

    • Experience with providing person-centered dementia care
    • Knowledge of the aging process and chronic disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
    • Sensitivity to cultural diversity
    • Maturity, reliability, flexibility
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced group setting
    • Current driver’s license and access to a car
