Activity Aide - Nursing Home jobs in Louisiana

As Activity Assistant you must have an ability to wear a smile all day long and must have a genuine interest in the elderly. Key traits are patience, tact, good listening skills, initiative, imagination, enthusiasm and creativity. Interests in crafts, art and music are desirable. Hands-on experience teaching games and related activities is key.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists with planning, organizing and coordinating an activity program according to established polices.

2. The Activity Assistant follows a calendar of events monthly and each resident is given a copy and invited to all activities.

3. Assists with purchase of necessary supplies and prizes as budget allows, and directed by supervisor.

4. Volunteers are sought for entertainment and various fun experiences for residents and staff.

5. Assist in developing and coordinating the Resident Council and attends meeting when required.

6. Keep on the sunnyside. The Activity Team often sets the temperature of the Nursing Facility.

7. Visit with room bound residents weekly.

8. Other job assignments as instructed by supervisor.

Working hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm M-F with 30 minutes off for lunch each day. Some evenings required for special events. Alternating weekends and holidays required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $11.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
