Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed. Job Description
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing day-to-day activities of the accounting department to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies.
Responsibilities- Responsible for all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, credit card expense report reconciliation, cash applications, collections, and payroll)
- Ensure full accuracy of the financial ledgers on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, with full ownership and the lead on the monthly book close process.
- Primary lead for all internal audit requirements to the extent these relate to finance and accounting.
- Responsible for cash management, including performing wire transfers, ACH payments, daily cash report, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare State Sales & Use Taxes: quarterly; semi-annually; or annually where applicable.
- Maintain files and comply with record retention requirements.
- Prepare monthly bank covenant package.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- 5 years relevant accounting experience
- Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication, written and verbal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with QuickBooks a plus
