Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Implements communication techniques to enroll identified students from a specific geographic territory to become part of the Drury University student body. Anticipates and evaluates competitive educational opportunities and distinguishes Drury’s opportunities from its competitors. Maintains external relations with influential constituents (alumni, business leaders, and site directors). Provides academic advising and registration assistance for all new and continuing students.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Using personalized communication techniques, including but not limited to phone, email, text messaging, & Zoom, advises prospective students through the application process. Provides the primary contact to constituents in the designated territory on behalf of the university. Counsel prospective students about Drury University degree programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial responsibility. Ensures students have a solid understanding of the time commitment, technology and skills required to be a successful student. Consistently achieve the expected goals and objectives including, but not limited to: daily activity, schedule adherence, call outline adherence, call and email flow, service and support, compliance, and program knowledge. Develops innovative ways to streamline admissions for students and the university.
    • Manages a specific group of prospective students from the start of application to enrollment. Anticipates and evaluates competitive educational opportunities and distinguishes Drury’s opportunities from its competitors. Upholds all Drury University policies and procedures with integrity. Evaluates academic and personal achievements of applicants for admission to determine admissibility to the university. Works with the financial aid office to evaluate candidates for scholarship programs. Perform follow up activities with enrolled students to ensure successful transition into the university.
    • Provides academic advisement to new and current students using the current catalog, schedule and advising module. Assists students with course selection (based on their previous coursework and/or new student status), declaring a major and program completion. Meets with students by appointment, walk-in, or virtually to advise and enroll into a program pathway of study. Functions as the primary resource for all students needs including any special accommodations. Provides financial aid and scholarship information to new and current students during the advising process as it relates to the program of study. Actively engage students in registration process by assisting with complete of registration documents and entering data into the registration module. Using all Jezabar EX modules including registration and advising module to track student registration and communication, completion of the degree application intent to graduate as well as the degree audit. Maintain student service day and evening office hours for advising appointments and walk-ins.
    • Participates in the development, planning and execution of the on-campus admission and programs such as college visit days, open-houses, career-fairs, departmental events and weekend recruiting events throughout the year.
    • Attends and participates in all enrollment and advising training to assist in continued professional development and role enhancement.
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    • Ability to contribute ideas to the marketing and recruiting practices of the University.
    • Ability to counsel with all prospects, applicants, etc., to ease the transition from high school to college and from college to college.
    • Ability to work with faculty, staff, and administration throughout the admission, recruiting, and marketing program.
    • Ability to maintain sufficient knowledge of all scholarship and financial aid programs and application procedures in order to explain and assist all applicants and their parents in this complicated process.
    • Ability to use related software, especially Microsoft Office to prepare correspondence and reports.
    • Ability to use a telephone to make contacts and follow-up with prospects in a friendly and personable manner.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, acceptable driving record and willingness to travel to recruit as needed and determined by the campus director.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with prospective students, high school guidance counselors, parents, and other institution personnel.
    • Ability to present information in a formal setting to a group.
    • Ability to generate statistical reports from raw data for surveys and territory management.
    • Ability to be discreet to ensure confidentiality of files.
    • Professional attire is required.
    • Ability to speak in front of a group of people.
    • Ability to be creative and execute ideas on how to recruit students to Drury University.
    • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.

    Education And Experience

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, five years of experience in college recruiting is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Directly supervises work study student staff and interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
