Creeping Crud Season is Here
Travel, gatherings, and kids returning to school mean it's party time for viruses and other bugs. Gray skies, cold, wet, and gloom make it all harder. Seasonal Affective Disorder is real.
That means making sure you are on top of all the new sick leave laws and other legal issues when employees need leave.
Mostly, this is your reminder that sick people require rest to recover and well people don't want to get sick. And even though remote workers don't spread germs to other employees, when they are out sick, please leave them alone and encourage them to recover.
There are very few business emergencies that are truly urgent. Deadlines are to make progress, not to force people to work sick. Your employees' health is more important. And when employees run out of paid leave, please check with your friendly employment lawyer before deciding how to handle it.
